Discussing the expansion and development of the Azraqeen dumpsite in the capital secretariat

A meeting held today in Sana'a, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Makbouli, discussed the expansion and development of the Azraqeen dumpsite in the Jid area of ??the capital's capital. The meeting, which included the Ministers of Local Administration Ali Al-Qaisi, Industry and Trade Abdul-Wahhab Al-Durra, Public Works and Roads, Engineer Ghaleb Mutlaq, and Water and Environment Engineer Abdul-Raqib Al-Shurmani, Mayor of the Capital Hammoud Abbad, and CEO of the General Authority Ibrahim Al-Haifi, discussed the conditions of the dump where waste is collected from the Capital Municipality and the governorates of Sana’a Imran and expand it and solve the problematic places surrounding it. At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of paying attention to the dump and recycling and treating waste, whether domestic, industrial, or agricultural, in order to reduce its impact and use in various industries and products. The aspects of investing in the dump and benefiting from its contents in the recycling process and using them as alternatives to raw materials obtained from non-renewable natural resources such as petroleum, natural gas, coal, mineral ores, and trees were also discussed. The meeting called on the private sector and investment companies to benefit from waste and reuse it, as well as to benefit from the experiences of some developed countries in this field, as recycling has become one of the most important methods used to dispose of waste due to its positive impact on the environment, the national economy and human health. The meeting approved the formation of a committee headed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs and comprising the ministers of local administration and the interior, the mayor of the capital and the head of the Lands and State Real Estate Authority to develop appropriate solutions to develop the dump and benefit from waste because of the project’s importance in employing the workforce and reducing the rate of environmental pollution and diseases, as well as supporting the national economy. The meeting was attended by representatives of health, civil defense and relevant authorities.
